David McCarty
Judge David Neil McCarty has devoted his legal career to appellate work, beginning as a law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court and building a depth of experience in state and federal appeals.
He has presented more than 30 oral arguments before the Mississippi Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
He has also served as an adjunct professor at Mississippi College School of Law, teaching courses such as appellate advocacy, legal writing, trial practice, and evidence.
Judge McCarty is the author of scholarly works, including a treatise on evidence and a study of judicial speech laws. He regularly presents on appeals, ethics, and legal writing in continuing legal education settings.
Elected to the Mississippi Court of Appeals, District 4, Position 2 in 2018, he took office in January 2019.
