Joy Lambert Phillips

Joy Lambert Phillips is a distinguished legal trailblazer and past President of the Mississippi Bar (2005–2006), where she made history as the first woman and the first in-house counsel to hold the position.

A University of Mississippi alumna (B.A., J.D., with honors), she recently retired from serving as Chief Legal Officer of Hancock Whitney Corporation. Phillips has led with principle—co-chairing the Bar’s Access to Justice Commission, earning the 2010 Chief Justice Award, and the Mississippi Center for Justice’s “Champion of Justice” honor in 2013.

A lifetime advocate for legal equity, she’s been honored with both the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association’s Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Woman Lawyer awards.

Through leadership and mentorship, Phillips continues to build bridges to justice across the Magnolia State.
